Improving Your Chances
Getting Certifications
While you might already know how to do everything in your chosen field, these help prove it to folks who don't know you. I've also found they're an excellent way to brush up your skills.
Here are (free) places you can try:
- freeCodeCamp: programming languages and web development.
- HubSpot Academy: marketing and sales.
Taking Courses
Though you don't usually get a certificate for completing these, they're still excellent for proving your knowledge, and expanding it!
Below are a few (free) places to try:
- Web.Dev: as the name suggests, all things web development.
Courses I've Taken
- Learn Accessibility | Web.Dev
- Learn HTML | Web.Dev
Job Hunting Tips
- Be wary. Before applying, check the company's LinkedIn, site, reviews, and socials.
- Internship notices on LinkedIn aren't always what they seem.
- Keep a spreadsheet with three subsheets: current applications, rejected, and companies to avoid. Consult this before applying for a job lest you fill out the same form twice.
